Ford has unveiled the latest Mustang GTD Spirit of America edition, a red‑white‑blue tribute timed for the United States’ 250th birthday celebrations.
New visual touches on a familiar platform
The updated GTD carries a Performance White base coat highlighted by asymmetrical strips in Race Red and Lightning Blue. Ford describes the offset graphics as a fresh take on the Mustang’s classic tri‑bar emblem. Carbon‑fiber elements remain prominent, especially on the front splitter and rear wing, while red‑painted mirror caps and spoiler endplates are carried over from the earlier Spirit of America package.
Oversized “Mustang” lettering continues to dominate the rear wing, and the vehicle still includes the standard Performance Package. That package adds dive planes, a larger front splitter, revised underbody components and an active rear wing system. The more aggressive aerodynamic parts seen on the GTD Competition model—such as canards and rear aero‑disc wheel covers—could be paired with this edition, though they are not standard.
Beyond the paint scheme, the updated version retains the exposed carbon‑fiber treatment on the front splitter, a design cue that emphasizes the car’s track‑oriented heritage.
Powertrain and performance remain unchanged
Mechanically, the Spirit of America version does not differ from the prior GTD. It retains the supercharged 5.2‑liter V8 delivering 815 horsepower and 664 lb‑ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear‑mounted transaxle, enabling a claimed top speed of 202 mph. The car remains barely street‑legal, with a licensing plate that reflects its limited‑run status.

Ford has not released new interior photographs, a sign that the cabin is likely unchanged. The interior continues to showcase exposed carbon fiber, heavily bolstered seats and 3D‑printed titanium trim pieces.
While the engine and drivetrain are identical to earlier GTD models, the inclusion of the Performance Package means the vehicle benefits from an enhanced aerodynamic package that was originally engineered for the track‑winning Competition variant. This integration allows the Spirit of America edition to maintain the same lap‑time potential without requiring additional power upgrades.
Potential buyers can submit applications for the Spirit of America edition through May 18, 2026. The deadline gives enthusiasts ample time to consider the vehicle’s unique styling and its place in the broader Mustang lineup.
