Nissan has revived the Pixo name after a 12-year gap, unveiling an electric city car built on the Renault Twingo platform. The model is slated for UK sales early next year with a starting price of about £18,000, before any electric-car grant.
The vehicle will be assembled in Slovenia alongside the Twingo, sharing the French-origin silhouette and surface treatment. Apart from a few bespoke styling cues, the model relies heavily on its sibling’s body structure.
The company describes the car as a fresh take on its compact-EV design language, highlighting cubic proportions and smooth surfaces that give a confident stance despite its small size. Pixel-inspired headlights replace the Twingo’s rounded units, and a custom bumper and bonnet complete the front.
Rear lighting and wheel designs also carry a pixel motif, while exclusive paint options such as purple and blue differentiate the model from the Twingo. Subtle “Easter eggs” are scattered throughout the exterior.
The model uses a 27.5kWh battery that Nissan rates for a maximum range of 161 miles. Charging is limited to 50kW, slower than the Twingo’s 80kW capability. A single front-axle motor delivers 80bhp and 129 lb-ft of torque, achieving 0-62 mph in 12.1 sec.
The model will compete with a growing class that includes the Volkswagen ID 1, the upcoming Citroën 2CV, and a new Fiat Panda model, all targeting city drivers seeking compact electric mobility.
Production will run in tandem with the Twingo, and Nissan expects the model to sit below the Renault 5-based Micra in its expanding electric lineup.
