Nissan’s Frontier Pro pickup truck will enter the Mexican market this month, marking the first global launch of a model produced in China. The vehicle, developed by Nissan’s Zhengzhou joint venture, represents the automaker’s first export of a China-built pickup designed specifically for international buyers. According to the company, it is the first Nissan model developed and produced in China for global export. The five-seat model will be sold alongside the company’s existing lineup in key regions.

The Frontier Pro offers three powertrain configurations: a conventional internal combustion engine and two plug-in hybrid electric versions (1.5-litre and 2.0-litre). The hybrid models feature vehicle-to-load technology, enabling them to power external devices. This marks Nissan’s first electrified pickup platform, with the plug-in hybrid configuration tailored specifically for Latin America, ASEAN, and Oceania markets. Meanwhile, the internal combustion model will target the Middle East, where demand for traditional powertrains remains strong.

Philippine dealers will receive the truck under the Navara Pro badge in late 2026, with additional shipments to Latin America and the Middle East scheduled before year’s end. Australia and New Zealand will be the first right-hand-drive markets to get the vehicle in 2027, expanding its global footprint. The international rollout follows Mexico’s launch, demonstrating Nissan’s strategy to use its Chinese joint venture operations for engineering, manufacturing, and exports to international markets.

Beyond the Frontier Pro, the company will export its China-produced N7 electrified sedan to ASEAN and Latin American markets.

Guillaume Cartier, Nissan’s chief performance officer, described the Frontier Pro as embodying the company’s “Dare Beyond” philosophy, combining cutting-edge technology with real-world utility. The pickup extends Nissan’s long-standing presence in the segment, with over 15 million cumulative sales across 140 markets since introducing the Type 13 truck in 1934. By integrating advanced powertrain options and vehicle-to-load functionality, the Frontier Pro reflects Nissan’s commitment to challenging industry expectations while delivering practical solutions for professional buyers.
