Asuransi Astra marked its 70th birthday by consolidating its insurance services into a single mobile application called myGarda. The platform merges previously separate services from gardaoto.com and Garda Siaga, giving users access to more than 20 different product offerings in one place. Customers can now request emergency assistance, file claims, and manage outpatient controls through the app, according to the company announcement.
Automating the paperwork was a key focus. Asuransi Astra updated its website, gardaoto.com, to streamline the policy purchase process. Previously, customers had to manually enter 16 data points to buy a policy. The new system uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to automatically fill in customer information when they upload a KTP and a vehicle registration card (STNK). The entire process, from website to app, takes just four integrated steps to deliver vehicle protection.
Virtual inspections have been introduced to close policies remotely. Inspectors send updates directly to a customer’s WhatsApp number, allowing for real-time tracking of the application status. This digital approach ensures that users stay informed without needing to visit an office or wait on hold. When a policy is purchased online, the myGarda account is created automatically, giving immediate access to the policyholder dashboard.
Modern Towing Methods
As the automotive industry shifts toward electric and hybrid vehicles, Asuransi Astra’s towing fleet has undergone a physical upgrade. Garda Siaga introduced hydraulic flatbed towing to its fleet to handle modern car types more safely. Traditional towing methods often rely on lifting a vehicle by its front or rear wheels, which can cause additional damage. The hydraulic flatbed lifts the entire car onto the truck bed, keeping it stable and secure during transport.
Hydraulic flatbeds are particularly important for electric vehicles, which can be sensitive to suspension stress during transport. By minimizing these risks, the new towing method protects both the vehicle and its occupants during an accident. This physical equipment update reflects a broader trend in the industry where insurers must adapt their physical assets to match the growing number of electric cars on the road.
“Seluruh inovasi yang kami hadirkan hari ini merupakan wujud komitmen Asuransi Astra untuk terus menjaga kepercayaan dan memberikan rasa aman bagi pelanggan, khususnya dalam rangka menyambut usia kami ke tujuh dekade,” said Maximiliaan Agatisianus, President Director of Asuransi Astra.
