New Ford Bronco Filson Elevates Ruggedness to Luxury

Ford’s new Bronco Filson blends luxury with off-road capability, marking a shift in the rugged SUV’s identity. The 2027 model joins the Bronco lineup as a premium trim level, combining the vehicle’s trail-ready hardware with upscale materials, quieter interiors, and design cues inspired by outdoor gear. Ford and Filson, a Seattle-based outfitter, have collaborated for months, aligning their shared focus on durability and adventure. A recent event in Washington state offered a glimpse into the partnership, including a tour of Filson’s factory where materials and craftsmanship influenced the Bronco Filson’s design.

The Bronco Filson is built on the Sasquatch package, ensuring it retains serious off-road credentials. Standard features include 35-inch tires, Fox position-sensitive internal-bypass shocks, and locking differentials for challenging terrain. Power comes from Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, currently exclusive to the Bronco Raptor. Engineers adjusted the engine for smoother delivery and a less aggressive sound, though exact power figures remain undisclosed until next year. The focus isn’t just on performance but on refining the driving experience for everyday use.

Inside, the Bronco Filson introduces a 20 percent reduction in noise through acoustic glass, improved sealing, and wind noise mitigation. Ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and an upgraded B&O audio system add comfort and luxury. Filson’s influence appears in storage solutions, such as removable saddle bags and cargo organizers made from water- and dirt-resistant materials. These items, inspired by Filson’s own products, offer configurable compartments for gear like fishing equipment or first-aid supplies, which can be taken directly to camp.

Some upgrades cater to urban convenience. A digital rearview mirror and camera washer improve visibility when the cargo area is full, while power-deployable running boards protect clothing from mud. Externally, the Bronco Filson retains its rugged look but adds unique details: a perforated grille, painted fender flares, and mirror caps. Its signature Field Green Metallic color is available alongside other shades previously seen on the Bronco.

The limited First Edition model for North America includes exclusive paint, a serialized console plaque, and additional Filson-inspired cargo storage. Filson by Bronco merchandise is also available, targeting fans of both brands. Production begins at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, with deliveries expected in early 2027. Prices haven’t been set yet, but estimates suggest the Bronco Filson will start near $75,000.

While the Bronco Filson’s materials aren’t identical to Filson’s apparel, there are visual parallels. Seat patterns resemble those in Filson jackets, and cabin textures and color schemes mirror the brand’s signature styles. This collaboration feels like a natural evolution for Ford, balancing its heritage as an off-road leader with a push into luxury. The Bronco Filson may not replace the Raptor’s raw performance, but it offers a different kind of appeal—one that doesn’t require leaving the pavement behind.
