Ford is teaming up with Filson, a Seattle-based outdoor gear company, to bring a new Bronco variant to market. The Bronco Filson Edition is inspired by Ford’s 2020 Wildland Fire Rig concept, which imagined a Forest Service-ready Bronco. The production version will debut in June in the Pacific Northwest, with details expected to follow. Ford has already shared a QR code for those eager to learn more, suggesting a near-term sale date tied to the 2027 Bronco lineup.
A Concept Becomes Reality
The Wildland Fire Rig concept, unveiled in 2020, featured a four-door Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch off-road package, including 35-inch tires, a steel bumper with a Warn winch, and a custom roof rack with LED lights. The vehicle also had a 50-gallon water tank, though civilian models will omit that feature. The production version is expected to use Ford’s 2.3-liter turbo inline-four engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the Filson Edition will include durable duck canvas on door handles, armrests, and seat trim. The Filson logo will be prominently displayed, reinforcing the partnership. The concept’s Forest Service green paint is likely to carry over, giving the Bronco a rugged, utilitarian look.
More Than a Limited Edition
The Bronco Filson Edition is not a limited run but a full member of the Bronco family. It joins other derivatives like the upcoming 2027 Bronco RTR, a performance model set to debut in Michigan. Dave Rivers, head of Ford Enthusiast Brands, said the collaboration aims to elevate the Bronco’s image, blending durability with a premium feel akin to a Filson jacket.

The partnership with Filson isn’t new. The company outfitted Forest Service Broncos in the 1960s and ’70s, and Filson itself dates back to 1897, when it supplied gear for Alaska gold rushers. The new Bronco reflects that legacy, merging utility with outdoor-ready design.
Orders for the 2027 Bronco RTR are expected to open later this year, with production beginning in early 2023. The model will feature a redesigned exterior, enhanced off-road capabilities, and a range of new interior configurations.

The vehicle’s design incorporates advanced materials and technologies, ensuring both durability and comfort. It will also include new safety features and driver-assistance systems, enhancing the overall ownership experience.
